My Little Amazon

My Little Amazon

by Caren Cross

In Selma, Alabama, winning makes you heroes… until love makes you a target.

Demarcus Little is the pride of the track—five-foot-nine, lightning fast, and already turning heads as a freshman phenom with a future built on speed and discipline. Julia Severs towers over everyone at six-foot-five, a dominant junior and star center expected to lead her college basketball team to yet another championship. On the court, they are celebrated. Untouchable. The faces of victory.

Off the court… they are something else entirely.

What begins as an unlikely connection between two elite athletes becomes a powerful, undeniable love—one that refuses to shrink, apologize, or hide. But in a town where tradition and perception carry more weight than truth, their relationship becomes a spectacle. A whispered joke. A public controversy no one is willing to ignore.

Cheers fade into stares. Admiration twists into judgment.

As the pressure mounts and the spotlight burns hotter, Demarcus and Julia are forced to confront a painful question: Can their love survive in a place that refuses to accept it… or will they have to leave everything they have ever known just to protect what they have found in each other?

Told from Julia’s first-person point of view, *My Little Amazon* is a powerful young adult romance about race, resilience, and the courage it takes to love out loud in a world that wants you to stay quiet.

Because sometimes the greatest victory isn’t earned in a stadium—it’s fought for in the heart.
